Who is Samantha L. T. Agee, MSN-Ed, RN, APRN, CRNA
Lieutenant Colonel (ret.) Agee was born in Georgetown, Guyana and reared in the city of New York (NY). Samantha enlisted in the Army in 1997 and served as a Medic and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) then entered a Reserve Officer Training Commissioning (ROTC) Program in 2001.
Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2004 as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Hofstra University, she served in the Army Nurse Corps and retired as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Fort Campbell, KY in May 2023. Samantha received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Adelphi University, Garden City, NY in 2004, a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ in 2010, and a Master of Science in Nursing Anesthesia from the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing and Northeastern University, Boston, MA in 2013. Samantha is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice focused in Leadership at Aspen University, Phoenix, AZ.
Prior to finding a home following retirement in Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Anesthesiology Department, she held numerous civilian and military leadership and staff positions within units such as Telemetry and Orthopedic Units at Nassau County Trauma Hospital, Long Island, NY; Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, GA; Intensive Care Unit (ICU) deployed with 21th Combat Support Hospital, New Orleans, LA and Camp Bucca, Iraq, conducted Detainee Healthcare in austere environments; Surgical Intensive Care/OpenHeart Recovery Unit at Eisenhower Army Medical Center; and Nursing Anesthesia in operating rooms in Hawaii(HI), Kentucky(KY), and South Korea.
In the Intensive Care Unit, she earned national certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse, while serving as staff and charge nurse, the unit scheduler, and preceptor of ROTC nursing cadets and medics. Samantha initiated and managed a self-scheduling tool for 30 personnel. Her additional duties were President of the Junior Officer Council for two consecutive years with emphasis on officer development via mentorship and leadership. Through the Hospital Education and Training department, she served as coordinator and assistant instructor of a two-day Pediatric Workshop and presented continuing education courses on Guillain Barre Syndrome and Detainee Healthcare. At Tripler Army Medical Center, HI, her two-year tenure as President of the Aloha Chapter of the ROCKS Inc, resulted in reclamation of 30 members and facilitation of obtaining non-profit 501c3 status. As the senior nursing officer of a Forward Resuscitative Surgical Team at Fort Campbell, KY, she developed and implemented a clinical rotation system which ensured Soldiers remained medically proficient and competent. While serving as Assistant Chief of the Anesthesia Department in South Korea, Samantha developed and implemented policies governing anesthesia services to 60,000 patient population. She is the Immediate Past Senior Advisor and Past President of the Screaming Eagles Chapter of the ROCKS Inc at Fort Campbell, KY.
LTC (ret.) Agee published and served as keynote speaker on topics to include The Effects of QuikClot Combat Gauze on Hemorrhage Control in The Presence of Hemodilution in The AMEDD Journal of Medicine and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Leadership sessions. Samantha earned multiple awards and attended numerous military and civilian leadership and communication courses to include COL C.J. Reedy and Command & General Staff College. She is a servant leader with over 27 years of leadership experience. Holding continued active membership in varying non-profit organizations, not limited to Chi Eta Phi Sorority Incorporated®, where she serves as the Second National Vice President. As the Second National Vice President, Samantha serves and the Accredited Provider Program Director and the Chair of the National Education Committee. Under her tenure, the Provider Unitapproved 350 plus diverse CNE credits from 61 activities between 2021-2022, 72 activities between 2022-2023, 98 activities between 2023-2024, and has surpassed 35 activities between 2024 to present. The Sorority’s Learning Management System housed in Chi Eta Phi University was initiated to increase the accessibility and communications of programs and resources to enhance the professionalism and participation of the organization’s members. Working to improve the community, increase awareness, and decrease disparities, she continues active membership as the Outreach Ministry Director of St. Anselm Episcopal Church; American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologist; Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society; National Black Nurses Association, Life Member; NAACP, Life Member; ROCKS, Incorporated, Life Member; The Order of the Eastern Star; Daughters of the Imperial Court; The York Rite; and The Order of the Golden Circle. Samantha is the daughter of Desiree Martin and is proud of being married to Willie Agee III, MD, PhD, 33, and parenting their daughters, Lauren and Rachel, ages 11 and 8 years.

2020 – 2021: Educational Nurse Planner for 2021 SWR Virtual Meeting and Conference. Producing 15 Continuing Educational Unit (CEU) hours delivered via Live and On-Demand Sessions. 50 attendees registered at the time of printing.
2019 – 2020: Support Chapter Planning Chair and Nurse Planner for 2020 SWR Meeting and Conference. Produced 10.5 CEU hours delivered in-person in Hawaii. 100 attendees, resulting in a 100% increase from the previous year. Planned and executed the 2nd Annual Regional Service Project resulting in support of a local non-profit and Feeding occupant families of a homeless shelter.
2019: Featured Speaker on topic of Bridging the Generational Gap Regarding Technological Advances in Nursing during Conference producing CEU credit.
2018 – 2019: Educational Nurse Planner for 2019 SWR Meeting and Conference. Produced eight CEU hours delivered in-person on a cruise to Mexico. 42 attendees. Initiated the 1st Annual Regional Service Project, supplying an International Elementary School with educational supplies.
